Day at Snowbird

Back at the end of May/beginning of June, Dave was at Costco and came upon discount tickets to go to Snowbird and do all the fun activities they have up there. He had to buy 4 tickets to get the discount so I told him to get them... I figured we would be able to find friends to come. We finally went last weekend! One of my very best guy friends PETER and his date Mallory came up with us! We even randomly ran into my brother and Nichelle so we hung out with them as well! It was really fun being up there. We did the Alpine slide, the zip-line, the mechanical bull, the trampolines, and the tram. It was a really fun way to spend our day! I'm glad we were finally able to go up and that we had great company :)

Twenty-two!!!

Well, Thursday was my 22nd Birthday! And we had a whole weekend of celebrating! On my actual Birthday we didn't do much. It was a typical day... work, move more stuff into our apartment, clean, etc... but Friday Dave took me out to The Melting Pot! He is sweet and remembered I'd been wanting to go there for a long time, just because I'd heard lots of good things about it. It was great, and super fun/original! I'm glad we finally went and would recommend going! Then, on Saturday we went to Raging Waters with my family and some friends. I only had a few friends come and I'm thankful they did! We had a good time running around and riding down water slides. Later that night we hit up the Bee's game! They had fireworks that night so it was way fun! All the events made for a great weekend. Happy Birthday... to ME! :)

It's finally coming together!!!

Our apartment actually looks like a place someone can LIVE in now! :) Dave and I are moved in enough that we have been sleeping at our apartment the last few nights. It's been fun but there is still a lot of work to do! Lots of re-doing furniture, we still have to pick up my dad's couch, clean our kitchen, etc... but we are getting there! I will be sooooo happy when it's finally done! Dave and I can come home from work, and instead of thinking of what we need to do to improve our home, we can just sit back and relax!!!

Welcome to our home

"The shit bomb" is what Dave has nicknamed our new, lovely, little apartment that we will shortly be moving into. And sadly... this nickname is not far from the truth. Dave's grandpa owns these apartments and he is kind enough to let his grandchildren live there once married... for FREE! What an awesome way to help us get on our feet! We are seriously so thankful for this opportunity! Originally, we were going to move into a one bedroom. But we received awesome news that there was a two bedroom available, if we were willing to re-paint it and wait until new carpet was laid down. This last week my life has consisted of work, and then paint. It's been great :) You wouldn't think it would be such a chore, but seriously. This place is a "shit bomb." I told Dave we should permanently name it that. I'm sure some of you remember the "Party palace?" When we would go to hang out it was like... "Hey, let's go to the party palace!" or the "PP." Now me and Dave can invite people over and say something like, "Hey! Come over to hang out at the shit bomb!!" haha. (I think it would be funny but Dave doesn't think so.) Anyway! I have never seen an apartment left so ridiculously GROSS! The walls were literally covered in who knows what... food on the ceiling... gum on the base boards... leaking from the ceiling... etc. No worries though, when we are through with this place it will look AMAZING!!! I'm so excited to continue working on it just so we can finally see the end result! This is our first home together so it's very exciting... and because of that... I absolutely LOVE our little "shit bomb." :)

ELOPEMENT!!!!

Where to start....? Well, Dave and I attended my brother's wedding in May (of course.) Being there for everything I couldn't help but think... this is so much TIME, EFFORT, STRESS, etc... to go into ONE day! At my brother's rehearsal dinner we happened to sit with my mom's friend Mary Kay and her husband! Through talking with them, we found out they had eloped when they got married! They told us their story and it sounded so wonderful! For awhile... Dave and I joked about how we would elope. Well, our joking around finally turned into a reality! We decided we would go for it! We booked hotels, got a photographer, contacted a Bishop from San Diego... everything! 2 days before we left Dave broke the big news to his parents and grandparents! We were pleasantly surprised with the reactions! Everyone was very supportive. The day we left I actually gave a card with a poem in it to my little sister, to give to my mom after we left! After a bit of a shock... my mom and sister flew down to San Diego so they could be there. Dave's brother and sister-in-law came as well! It was so super fun to just run off! :) It was so relaxing and stress free... I seriously don't think I would ever do it a different way! Our small group was so fun! This blog might go on forever.... so I will just cover the highlights!!!

  • Left Wednesday, drove to St. George and stayed the night with Dave's Aunt and Uncle.
  • Thursday, we made our way to San Diego. And of course, stopped to ride the Desperado on the way :)
  • We got in to San Diego, checked into our hotel, and immediately left to go meet with the Bishop who was going marry us! Then we went out to eat!
  • Friday, we ate breakfast @ a cute place right in the Marina. We went to La Jolla beach and surfed for 2 hours! Neither of us got up... and we both got FRIED!!! :(
  • We then went to get our Marriage License! Then we ate @ Anthony's!
  • We met up with our families who were there that night and ate @ Buon Apetito in Little Italy!
  • Saturday, we went to the farmers market in Little Italy. And then ate breakfast!
  • From there, we ran around and got some last minute things at the store so we could get ready!
  • My mom and sister came to our hotel to help me do my hair. They even bought cute flowers and made me a boquet!
  • We headed to Coronado Beach! Picked out our spot. Changed. And sealed the deal!!!!!
  • Took lots of AWESOME pictures on the beach!!
  • Had a lovely dinner after the ceremony with our family that came!
  • Sunday, we headed to Vegas. We hit up the shark reef @ the Mandalay Bay! And then ate at the buffet!
  • We then spent the night in a suite @ the Venetian!
  • And we headed home Monday!!!!

It was oooooohhhhhh so much fun! I can't believe I'm married now! It's one of those surreal things! We had a blast! We are so thankful for our family that came down on a whims notice! And for all the love and support from everyone! It's seriously been so great! I'll post pictures soon! :)

Yes. We ran away and got married :)
